Every company wants to achieve the ultimate success and that starts with having a productive team. Check out our tips below for increasing productivity in the work space.
5 Strategies for a More Productive Team
1. Natural Light. Studies have proven that natural light boosts endorphins connected to happiness, which in return will lead to a happier and more productive team. Natural light also creates energy which is a necessity for staying on task.
2. Create an inspiring work space designed for high performance. Your company culture plays a large role in the performance of your employees. By investing in your employees, your employees are more likely to love their job and be dedicated to their company. From investing in more ergo-friendly furniture to adding employee benefits such as a snack bar, a game room- the more inspiring your space is, the better your employees will perform and WANT to perform.
3. Integrate wellness into the building blocks of your company culture. Healthy employees are happy employees. And when your employees are happy and healthy, they are more likely to be productive, focused and loyal to their company. Offer healthy snacks like fresh fruit and vegetables, bottled water, encouraged breaks and even team outings like a walking marathon for a good cause.
4. Encourage mental breaks
Did you know that taking a break actually makes an individual more productive? Taking breaks will help people focus and stay on task by refreshing the brain and giving a fresh look at the task needing to be done.
5. Stimulate the senses. Stimulating your senses is a great way to ignite creativity and boost productivity. When you take into account all five senses, the options are endless.
SIGHT
What is the first thing you see?
Is your space representing your company culture well?
Do you see a lot of clutter and disorganization?
What colors do see and how do they make you feel?
Does your space look exciting and welcoming?
SMELL
One of my favorite things that I love about the Interior Resources showroom is how we diffuse essential oils throughout our space. Depending on the nature of the day, we will choose an oil to represent our mood. On days when we are pushing for deadlines scents of lavender and rosemary fill the air. Typically on Monday mornings we diffuse something energizing like a nice citrus blend.
Think about your workspace and how you can marry a scent into the atmosphere. It may be diffusing some essential oils throughout the office or lighting a nice candle at the front desk to greet everyone who walks in.
TOUCH
In my opinion this is the most important factor to consider when designing an office and trying to increase productivity, but is often overlooked. When your employees are sitting in an uncomfortable chair for 8+ hours a day, their focus is most likely fixed on their discomfort rather than their work.
Furniture that is ergonomic and flexible is important and a must. Height adjustable desks, flexible monitor arms, and task seating with features such as adjustable arms and flexible tilt mechanisms are just a few key products that will have a profound impact on your employee and their productivity.
SOUND
Now that open floor plans have taken over today's office, problems such as noise control and distractions have stemmed. What do you hear when you sit at your desk? How does the sound of your surroundings affect your day-to-day tasks?
Investing in sound control is a must for open offices. Sound masking, like Lencore's Spectra i.Net, which offers customized acoustical comfort for a variety type of spaces.
TASTE
As mentioned about, research indicates that the more well-being and health conscious your employees are, the happier and more productive they will be. At our office, we provide healthy snacks such as nuts, fresh fruit, and bottled water on a daily basis. This is a great treat for our employees who need a quick snack or some brain food to help get them through the day.
