IR and Kimball Fight For a Cure

Updated: Jun 17, 2020

This past Tuesday, IR and Kimball teamed up with The Common Thread For The Cure Foundation to help raise awareness about breast cancer and raise donations for those effected within the design industry.

Interior designers and other industry professionals from Austin, Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth retreated to Waco to support the first Shop.Dine.Design event.

Our team sponsored the Gorman House from HGTV's Fixer Upper, the first house ever featured on Fixer Upper (Season 1 Episode 1).

Attendees loved how enthusiastic and informative both Nick and Wendy were about shiplap and its Texan origin. The Gorman House tour was favorited amongst the 4 other homes for its charm and inviting hosts.

The event hosted several popular activities including Design Talk with Sina Pearson, touring the interiors of 5 Fixer Upper homes, and a Block Party filled with live music, food, drinks, giveaways and more.

About The Common Thread For The Cure:

The Common Thread For The Cure Foundation has been established to unite the furnishings industry in the battle against breast cancer. Breast cancer affects the living — people who work, have children and household responsibilities that do not go away just because breast cancer strikes. By working together we can enhance the quality of life for individuals or their families in our industry who have breast cancer to enable them to maintain as normal a lifestyle as possible while they are confronting this disease.

The companies and employees that comprise the furnishings industry are joined by a common thread...utilizing the aesthetics of design in the products that are manufactured and the services provided to enhance the environment where people live and work. Every facet of the furnishings industry — architecture, interior design, furniture, textiles, carpet and lighting — are important components individually, but it is when all these facets work together that the end result is the most effective.

By working together in The Common Thread For The Cure, the furnishings industry can unite to win the battle against breast cancer. For more information please visit
